What This Service Actually Is

Patience is the product

The generation arriving at LAX today built the city the car is driving through. They should not be hurried into a vehicle by a driver watching a meter, and they should not be charged extra because getting settled took a few minutes longer than average.

That is the whole idea here. A senior car service is not a different vehicle or a different route. It is a chauffeur who has been told in advance that the passenger may move slowly, who parks properly instead of double-parking and hovering, who opens the door and waits, who offers an arm without making a performance of it, and who does not start the car until the seatbelt is on and the passenger says they are ready.

A rideshare driver cannot do this. They are paid by the trip and penalised for time, so every extra minute at the curb costs them money. Our chauffeurs are paid for the job, and the fare is fixed before the car leaves. Taking longer costs the passenger nothing and costs the chauffeur nothing, which is exactly why they can afford to be patient.

No surcharge There is no senior rate, no age-related fee, and no minimum. The flat quote you accept is the amount charged.
No time penalty Slow boarding, a bathroom stop before leaving the terminal, a pause to find a phone — none of it is billed.
Mobility aids free Folding wheelchair, walker, rollator, cane, oxygen concentrator. Stowed and returned by the chauffeur, no charge.
The One Thing That Changes Everything

Write it in the booking notes

A single line in the notes field is worth more than any add-on you can buy.

When you book, there is a notes box. Use it. What you write there reaches the chauffeur on their dispatch sheet before they leave for the airport, so they arrive already knowing what the trip needs instead of working it out at the curb with a tired passenger standing in front of them.

You do not need to write much. Any of these is enough:

“Passenger is 84, walks with a cane, please allow extra time and help with the suitcase.” “My father is hard of hearing. Please speak slowly and face him. Folding walker in checked luggage.” “Mum gets anxious in traffic. Please take the calmer route and skip the freeway if you can.”

If you are booking from out of state for a parent, add your own phone number and say you would like a call once they are in the car. We do that at no charge.

Choosing the Right Level

Curbside pickup, or met inside the terminal

Curbside is included in every fare. The chauffeur tracks the flight, waits in the cell phone lot, and pulls to the arrivals-level curb when the passenger is ready and has their bags. For a senior who travels comfortably and can manage baggage claim, this is all that is needed, and it costs nothing extra.

Inside-terminal assistance is a flat $60, charged once and covering the round trip. It is quoted with your fare before you confirm. The chauffeur parks the car, walks into the terminal, waits at baggage claim with a name sign, greets the passenger, takes the bags off the belt, and walks them out to the vehicle. Nothing is added to your card afterwards.

Choose the assist when the traveller is arriving from a long international flight, is unfamiliar with LAX, does not use a mobile phone, is travelling alone for the first time in a while, or when you simply want a person waiting with their name on a sign rather than a phone call to a curb.

What a chauffeur can and cannot do — stated plainly

  • Can meet at baggage claim with a name sign, lift luggage, offer an arm, push a passenger's own folding wheelchair from baggage claim to the car, and wait as long as it takes.
  • Cannot go past security to the gate. Nobody without a boarding pass can. Arrange airline wheelchair or escort assistance for the gate-to-baggage-claim leg and we take it from there.
  • Cannot provide medical or personal care, administer medication, or lift a passenger who cannot bear weight. Our chauffeurs are professional drivers, not caregivers or medical staff.
  • Do not operate ramp or lift-equipped vehicles. A passenger must be able to transfer into a standard seat with assistance. If they cannot, we will tell you honestly and you should book a specialist accessible operator.
Getting In and Out

Which vehicle suits an older passenger

Seat height is the thing that matters, and the right answer is not the same for everyone.

Easiest for stiff knees and hips

Cadillac Escalade ESV / Chevrolet Suburban

The seat sits close to standing height, so the passenger slides across rather than lowering down and pushing back up. There is a step up, with a running board and a grab handle, and the chauffeur steadies the door. This is what most passengers who use a walker or cane find easiest, and it has the most luggage room.

Easiest for a low, soft ride

Mercedes-Benz S-Class

A low, wide door opening and the quietest, softest ride in the fleet. Easy to lower into and kind on a passenger who finds road noise or firm suspension tiring. Standing back up from a low seat is harder, so it suits a passenger with good leg strength who wants the smoothest journey.

Best for families travelling together

Mercedes Sprinter Van

Standing headroom inside, a wide sliding door, and enough seating that grandchildren, luggage and a folding wheelchair all travel in one vehicle. Useful for a family collecting a relative together, or for a group moving between a hotel, a hospital appointment and a family home.

How It Works

Booking a ride for an older traveller

  1. Book the ride and add the flight number. We track the arrival, so a delay moves the pickup automatically and nobody is left standing. There is no waiting charge on a tracked flight.
  2. Write one line in the notes. Age, pace, mobility aid, hearing, anxiety — whatever matters. This is what makes the chauffeur arrive prepared.
  3. Choose curbside or the inside-terminal assist. Curbside is included. The assist is a flat $60, shown with your quote before you confirm.
  4. Arrange airline assistance separately if it is needed for the gate. Most airlines provide a wheelchair or escort from the aircraft to baggage claim free of charge if you request it in advance. Our chauffeur meets them there.
  5. Pick the vehicle by seat height, not by badge. Tell us whether the passenger prefers to step up or lower down and we will send the right one.
  6. Ask for the call. If you are booking from elsewhere, leave your number and ask to be told when your relative is in the car and on the way.
Not Only the Airport

The same chauffeurs, the rest of the week

Medical appointments. Cedars-Sinai, UCLA Health, Keck, City of Hope, Kaiser. A chauffeured ride means whoever is accompanying the patient is not also finding parking, and the car can wait rather than being re-summoned. Book it by the hour when the appointment has no predictable end.

Standing weekly outings. The same chauffeur, the same time each week, for a shop, a service, a card game, or a visit. Familiarity matters more than people expect once someone has stopped driving.

Family occasions. Weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and funerals, where an older relative should arrive unhurried and be collected at the door rather than walking from a distant lot.

For rides that do not start or end at an airport, see senior transportation in Los Angeles. If mobility assistance is the main concern, the LAX wheelchair and mobility assistance guide explains how the airline and ground legs fit together. If you are the adult child organising an arrival from another state, bringing elderly parents through LAX walks through the whole day.

Questions

Senior and elderly travel FAQs

No. There is no senior surcharge and no extra charge for extra time. If boarding takes ten minutes instead of two, that is simply part of the ride. The fare you are quoted is the fare you pay. The only paid add-on is the optional inside-terminal assistance described below, and you choose whether to have it.
A flat $60, charged once and covering the round trip, quoted with your fare before you confirm so it is never a surprise. It covers the chauffeur parking, walking in, meeting your traveller at baggage claim with a name sign, handling the bags, and walking them out to the car. Ordinary curbside pickup is included in the fare at no extra cost.
Write it in the notes field when you book. One line is enough — for example “82-year-old passenger, walks slowly, please allow extra time and help with the bags.” That note reaches the chauffeur before they leave for the airport, so they arrive already prepared rather than finding out at the curb. This is the single most useful thing you can do, and it costs nothing.
No, and no car service can. Only ticketed passengers pass through security, so the gate is airline territory. Ask the airline for wheelchair or escort assistance to bring your traveller from the gate to baggage claim, then our chauffeur takes over from there. Booking both halves is what makes the hand-off seamless.
If the passenger can transfer into a standard vehicle seat with assistance, yes — and we stow a folding wheelchair, walker, rollator, or cane in the luggage area at no charge. Our fleet is luxury sedans, SUVs and Sprinter vans; we do not operate ramp or lift-equipped vehicles, so a passenger who must remain seated in a non-folding wheelchair needs a specialist accessible operator. Tell us the situation when you book and we will say plainly whether we are the right service.
It depends on the person. A Mercedes S-Class sits low, which is easy to lower into but harder to stand up from. A Cadillac Escalade or Suburban sits higher, so the seat meets you closer to standing height, but there is a step up — there are running boards and grab handles. As a rule, passengers who use a walker or have knee or hip trouble find the SUV easier. Tell us which you prefer and we will send it.
Yes, and a large share of these bookings are made that way. You book and pay, we send confirmation to both of you, and you can ask to be called once your parent is safely in the car. Put your own number in the notes and say you would like that call.
We request it wherever scheduling allows, because a familiar face matters to a nervous traveller. Ask for it when you book. For a multi-stop day — a medical appointment, a family lunch, then home — hourly service keeps the same chauffeur and the same car for the whole day.
No. Our chauffeurs are professional drivers, not medical personnel or caregivers. They will help with bags, offer an arm, adjust the climate, and take the trip at your pace. They cannot administer medication, provide personal care, or transport a passenger who needs clinical supervision in transit — that requires a medical transport service.
Yes. The same chauffeurs handle medical appointments, standing weekly outings, and family events across Los Angeles. See senior transportation in Los Angeles for rides that do not start or end at an airport.
