The Television Academy has set the 79th Emmys for September 2027 but has not announced the exact date. The ceremony is expected at the Peacock Theater at L.A. Live, the venue of the 78th Emmys on September 14, 2026. The 2027 show is the first under the Academy's six-year deal with Amazon: it streams live on Prime Video, free to watch without a subscription, ending the rotation among ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC. We print a specific date only when the Academy does.
For the 2026 ceremony the Academy directed limousines and drop-off vehicles to Figueroa Street and Washington Boulevard, with the vehicle checkpoint opening at 2:00 PM; guests had their QR ticket ready in the AXS app at the checkpoint and were asked to be in their seats by 4:45 PM for a 5:00 PM telecast. Oversized vehicles had their own instructions. Expect the same shape in 2027: a checkpoint south of L.A. Live, an afternoon window, and a seating deadline that decides your departure time.
The Governors Gala follows the ceremony at the Convention Center next door and runs late. In 2026 the published limousine pickup point was Gilbert Lindsay Plaza at 1201 Figueroa, with rideshare at a different location. A chauffeur on standby stages nearby through the show and the Gala and is at the plaza when you message; the ride home at 1:30 AM is the moment the standby booking pays for itself.
LAX is 16 miles from L.A. Live (Comfort Sedan from $119.36, Escalade $194.86, Sprinter $514.40 on November 3, 2026), with the flight tracked and complimentary waiting after landing. Burbank is 15 miles north and the natural airport for the Valley studios. Nominees and executives arriving privately use Van Nuys or the LAX private terminals.
