Step by step, from wheels down to the curb
Most missed pickups at LAX are not late cars. They are two people describing two different places. The pillar number removes the description. Here is the whole sequence.
- Book with your flight number. Dispatch tracks the flight from the origin airport, so an early or delayed arrival moves the pickup automatically.
- Land. Your chauffeur is already staged at the LAX cell phone waiting lot a few minutes away, not circling the terminals.
- Collect your bags at baggage claim on the lower level.
- Walk outside and cross to the outer curb. The inner curb is for drop-offs and shuttles; chauffeured cars load at the outer curb.
- Look up and text the pillar label, for example *4H*, to the chauffeur's number you received before pickup, or to (424) 209-2006.
- The car pulls up to your pillar within minutes. The chauffeur loads the bags and you leave.
Why nobody is already parked at the curb
Look at the sign in the photo: No Stopping Any Time. The arrivals curb is an active loading zone and LAX enforces it, so a car that sits there is moved on. That is true for every operator, however much they promise. What makes a pickup reliable is not a car idling at the curb; it is a chauffeur holding nearby who knows exactly which pillar to drive to. The text is what turns the curb from a guess into an address.
Which terminal, which curb
Terminals 1 through 8 and the Tom Bradley International Terminal all work the same way: arrivals on the lower level, outer curb for chauffeured pickups, numbered pillars along the sidewalk. International arrivals at Tom Bradley clear immigration and customs first, which is why 60 minutes of waiting is included after an international landing. If your baggage comes out at a different terminal from your gate, the pickup is at the baggage terminal.
What to text
One line is enough: "Bags collected. Terminal 4, lower level, outer curb, pillar 4H." Send it after you are physically standing at the pillar, not from the belt, so the car and you arrive together.
When meet & greet is the better choice
Curbside is the quickest option for most travelers. Choose inside meet & greet ($60 per booking) when you would rather be found than find the car: international arrivals, first visits to Los Angeles, children and luggage, or guests you are booking for. The chauffeur waits at baggage claim with a name sign and walks you out.
