What SkyLink Is Planned to Connect
According to the current LAWA project page, SkyLink is designed around a 2.25-mile elevated guideway and six stations: three stations inside the Central Terminal Area, a station serving Economy Parking and the adjacent ground-transport area, a connection serving the LAX/Metro Transit Center, and a station at the LAX Rental Car Center.
LAWA says the system is planned to operate 24/7 and to be free for ticketed passengers, airport employees, and people picking up or dropping off travelers. The published design calls for trains every two minutes during peak hours and an approximately ten-minute end-to-end trip. These are project specifications, not a promise about today’s journey, until operating service is officially confirmed.
Why Older Opening Dates Cannot Be Treated as Current Status
An official 2024 press release projected a January 2026 start. The current LAWA project page now uses the word forthcoming. When a dated announcement conflicts with a live project-status page, travelers should rely on the current status and any new operating notice.

SkyLink and a Prearranged Lux4Rides Pickup
SkyLink is a circulation system; Lux4Rides is a door-to-door service. Even after the train opens, a traveler may still choose a prearranged chauffeur for direct transportation to a hotel, residence, office, Disneyland Resort, or another city. The final meeting procedure will depend on LAWA’s operating rules at that time.
